Links to Helpful Information

So… You’re new to racing?

If downhill ski racing is completely new to you, you’ve come to the right place! This section of the GPST Website will provide you with valuable information.

If you’re familiar with downhill ski racing because you’ve raced yourself, have families or friends in the program, you will know most of this information. By the end of the season this will all be old news and you’ll be passing on hints to the next group of new participants.

You’re going to meet a lot of new people. Some will be skiers that have raced themselves and continue to race as adults. You will also meet a lot of beginner or intermediate skiers who aren’t particularly comfortable on the black diamond expert slopes, but still have a great time with their family and friends as part of the Granite Peak Ski Team. Whatever your skills, from a non-skier to expert skier, you can make a contribution to helping the team and have a great time in the process. There’s a lot of work to be done, and we need everyone. Parent volunteers are critical to the team’s success.

As the season progresses you are going to have many questions. Whatever the question, just ask one of the coaches or other parents. It’s a friendly group and you’ll find all the help you need. Welcome to the Granite Peak Ski Team!

Getting Started
It may be early in the season, but there are a couple things you need to do:

  • First, check on season passes at Granite Peak, www.skigranitepeak.com (click on this link or see the Links page on our Website). They give substantial discounts for pre-season purchases and have a sliding price scale to include the entire family. You’ll be kicking yourself if you wait past the end of September and lose out on the price break. If this is your first year and you are not sure of the commitment level of your racer, multi-packs offer an alternative option to season passes.
  • Second, you need to get all your paperwork and program fees into the GPST Team Administrator. All forms are located on this website under the Forms button to the right. Please print out the appropriate forms, fill them out completely and mail them to:

    Granite Peak Ski Team
    c/o Donna Blankenship
    2605 Merganser Way
    Wausau, WI 54401

Please refer to the Programs section of this website for further information.

Each member pays the appropriate Granite Peak Ski Team program fee. The program fee covers GPST - NASTAR, coach’s salaries (some coaches are volunteers), trophies, gates, drills, timing equipment and other team expenses, such as postage and printing. All forms and fees must be returned prior to participating in any GPST program.
